Plantagenet Prattle

First with the hottest news in the Court! Reporters risk life and limb (not to mention head and neck) to bring you the stories that “THEY” don’t want you to hear!

Eleanor Original Cougar

After the death of our beloved Queen, the rumors regarding a certain female of interest – specifically of interest to the King have become tittle-tattle throughout the Kingdom. In every ale house and tavern avid speculation as to what the King’s intentions are towards this former Lady-in-Waiting of the Good Queen.

Some say that the relationship began after the Queen’s illness forced her to take to her bed, her strength so depleted that she was unable to participate in the life of the court. Once a handsome woman, the disease caused her body to swell to the point of disfigurement.

We were told that at some point during the Queen’s slow and painful path to the grave, the King took this buxom female to his bed.

After fathering two daughters on her, he granted her an impressive manor house for her own use and to provide for their daughters. Although Court gossip states that the Queen did not mind her husband’s new attraction, it is interesting to note that when the Queen’s will was proved she left each of her Ladies generously provided for with one exception, the King’s mistress.

The Queen also made certain that bequests of her personal items were assigned to her most trusted friend and Lady-in-Waiting who was charged with seeing the items be given to whom they were intended. It is said that the woman in question is very acquisitive and greedy. As soon as this news reached the favorites ears, she flew into a rage and the old and failing King, fearing the loss of her “companionship” gave in to her demands and granted her the jewelry and other possessions.

Since the Queen’s death, the King has thrown caution to the wind and often appears in public with the dark-eyed, dark haired woman, sumptuously attired and wearing a vulgar over- abundance of gold and jewels.

She has introduced a younger, more brazen and coarse element to the Court. She sits in on important meetings and even court hearings advising the judges on the ultimate verdicts.
Parliament is threatening to publically reveal her name and to demand she be banished from court.

What will the old King do? Will he give up his late-in-life love for the sake of peace in the kingdom? Or will he live out his remaining years with a smile on his face? One dares not breathe a word. Can you guess of whom I speak?
